If you are looking for Red Zircons, I occasionally carry them... But only when I feel that the rough will cut nice stones.

Most red Zircon rough, especially if they are bigger than a gram in size are very over saturated and too dark to cut a nice stone. They look great to your eye, but they will just not cut a good stone, if you have bought some, you may have (sadly) had this experience. They come out black, when faceted in most cases... because most of the red Zircon rough available is very dark (when cut).

I have heard some rough dealers tell people they can heat the dark red to make them lighter... This is true in some cases (sometimes heat will ruin the stone too) but as a red Zircon is lightened with heat (if it will go lighter not all of them will) it will go orange/yellow/clear. It will not be red which is the color you wanted and paid for...red. So why bother?

I will only sell the ones I can find that I feel will make a nice stone. If you are looking to buy some, be sure that any rough that you buy will pass the "white paper test". If anything, you want your rough to be on the lighter side. In my experience all Zircons tend to cut a little darker than they look
