Imperial Zircons - $6.00/ct to $35/ct

The color of these Zircons is what I call "Imperial". This material cuts spectacular finished gem stones. Think of the nicest pink/peach to champange/orange colored diamond you have ever seen and you will be close.

This is all crystal "high Zircon". The sparkle is almost blinding.

This material is red/peach/orange to pastel pink/peach in color and varies by the peice. The color(s) when cut are rich and intense orange/red/pinks and/or pastel pink/peach.

These colors in Zircons are quite stunning and rare. The tonal range varies depending on the individual piece, and they are a little more intense as they get larger.

As some of you may know Zircons can have some problem areas, on the rind in particular. This material has all been "hand cleaned" and in many cases "preformed" as you can see in the photograph, so there will be no problems. I like this material in any design, but as the stones get larger I think brilliant cuts work best, checker boards with brilliant pavilions are also nice. I tend to put this type of Zircons in deeper designs, the color islight enough to work well..

Note: This material has been hand cleaned and preformend in many cases. If you are not familiar with this material rough, be aware that there is usually a very significant amount of this material with flaws and fissures. It is not unusual to loose 30-50% of the weight during cleaning of this rough. If you buy it uncleaned expect to have significant clarity problems and it is very difficult to tell clarity before actually grinding a window to see inside this rough. Also the clarity issues are often hidden and very difficult to work out as well as can become worse during cleaning. Once cleaned there is seldom any problem cutting this material.
