Large Butterscotch Zircons - $6.00 to $12/carat

These stones are a very nice orange/yellow, yellow/gold to light yellow color, which is why I call them butterscotch.The tonal range varies depending on the individual piece, and they are a little more intense as they get larger. I like this material in about any design, but as the stones get larger I think brilliant cuts work best, also checker boards are nice.

Note: This material has been hand cleaned and preformend in many cases. If you are not familiar with this material rough, be aware that there is usually a very significant amount of this material with flaws and fissures. It is not unusual to loose 30-50% of the weight during cleaning of this rough. If you buy it uncleaned expect to have significant clarity problems and it is very difficult to tell clarity before actually grinding a window to see inside this rough. Also the clarity issues are often hidden and very difficult to work out as well as can become worse during cleaning. Once cleaned there is seldom any problem cutting this material.

Note2: These are not pure yellow like the heated Same material, if you want canary yellow these stones will not work. If you want a beautiful butterscotch color then this material is what you want.
Note3: This rough tends to look a little tan when rough, because the rind is oxidized a bit.
