  Blue Tourmaline - Mixed Light

This is top Blue Tourmaline with a very slight teal cast depending on the light. This is some of the finest medium blue color I have ever seen... the picture really does not do it justice. It is a little more saturated than it appears in the picture, but it is not dark.

Here is a link to a similar piece cut in my "Dry Heat" design, the photo was taken By Jeff Scovil. The above stone will be more peacock blue and more intense than the stone in the picture.

Congo Tourmaline - $50/carat
Locality: Congo, Africa

  Tourmaline

Tourmaline

This is very nice Kelly Green with maybe a very slight touch of blue/green. I have skinned a few bad places on the rind and the yield will be very high. The color is really nice and almost impossible to get rough. This is clean, much of this material has little "fuzzy" stuff and small feathers in it. This does not, it is clean.

Currently Available:
1 each 24.80 carats - $1,240.00 - Top Kelly Green, best cut is "Smith Bar" or "Easy Emerald" - 10.6mm x 25mm x 8.5mm deep

Blue Tourmaline - Mixed Light Blue Tourmaline - Daylight

This is top Blue Tourmaline. If you know about Tourmaline, then you realize how truly rare this stone is... Blue Tourmaline is arguably the most expensive and some of the rarest there is. This stone is a good solid blue with a very slight green overtone in incandescent light. The right picture is mixed light the left is normal daylight coming through a window in my office... This stone is basically a nice medium blue, and is not over saturated like the majority of this type of material tends to be. The "c" is a dark blue... This is clean (I widowed one side to check) and ideally shaped for a very high yield, it is crystal shaped and water worn (no rind to deal with).

Currently Available:
1 each 43.96 carats - $6594.00 - Top Indicholite, best cut is "Smith Bar" or "Easy Emerald" - 12.5mm x 30mm x 11.1mm deep

Top Afghanistan Blue/Green Tourmaline - $100/carat
Locality: Afghanistan
Top seafoam Tourmaline Top seafoam Tourmaline

This is material is top blue/green and almost always cut for the commercial market long before it gets to a cutter here in the United States. The a/b is top blue seafoam color and the "c" axis is a light open lime green. This material can be cut either way but I would cut for the a/b axis. The yields will be very high because the shapes of these pieces of rough are almost ideal. There is a spot or fuzz on a couple of these out near the rind, they will cut out in most cases. I do have a specialty design made for these peices.

Currently Available:
1 each 29.85 carats - $2985.00 top blue/green, best cut specialty/rectangle - 12mm x 17.9mm x 17mm deep
