Imperial Topaz - $8 to $20/carat
Locality: Brazil
![]()
This is considered the king of all Topaz, it only comes from one location, the "Imperial" mine in Brazil and has a beautiful peach to pink color. Good clean material is usually very hard to come by and the mine production is very undependable. It takes some care in cutting and is a little heat sensitive. It must be orientated for the cleavage (7 degrees off of the "c" axis) for Topaz, and does take special handling, this is not for a new cutter. It works well in about any design, but I especially like it in Barions, because they add nice dispersion with their depth.
