Guerrero Topaz - $8 to $40/carat

For Topaz lovers Guerro is a favorite, it has a gold to peach flesh tone color to it, that almost no other material can match. This material is color safe (unlike a lot of the New Mexico material that looks similar) and has been out of the ground since the mid 60's when most of the material was mined. It is easy to cut and besides the normal cleavage orientation (7 degrees off of the "c" axis) for Topaz, does not take any special handling.

It works well in about any design, but I especially like it in Barions, because they add nice dispersion with their depth. There will be an occasional needle or bubble in this material.

Note: This material has been "hand cleaned" and a lot of these pieces are basically preforms. This all there is, the mine is long gone.
