Sorry this color is no longer available as rough due to new federal import standards... The only way this material is currently (Feb 2008) being imported is as already cut stones. This may change in the future, but that is how it is now.

Large Electric Topaz - $1.50 to $2.00/carat
Locality: Marambaia, Brazil

  Large Electric BlueTopaz

These pieces are sawed clean, but not really preformed. They are ideal for a new cutter who has not cut Topaz before, but does have at least a few stones under their belt.

Note: Topaz should not be one of a new cutters first stones. It can be problematic to work with sometimes, although usually not a problem.

These "Electric Blues" are a vibrant blue, almost a hot blue. This material has no gray tones that a lot of this material tends to have, that is why I called this material electric. These pieces are all clean and are very large for this blue (there are limits in the treatment as to how chunky a piece can be and get even color). Cut these in about any design and Barions work especially well because of the size and saturation of this rough.

Note2: There are some dealers selling Swiss Blue as electric blue, they are frankly being dishonest. There is very significant color and price differences between the two shades, be sure when you buy electric blue you get it. Electric Blue is as described above.

If you have question about the color grading of blue Topaz I have the definitions on the Topaz Index page.
