Alexandrite - $3.50/carat
Locality: USA

Alexandrite in flouescent light

Alexandrite in incandecent light

Mixed light

This material is color change as you can see and makes a very unique faceted stone.

In Florescent light it is blue (top left).

In incandescent light it is red/pink (top right).

In natural mixed day light (left) the colors mix to make a very interesting faceted stone.

This is a material that is almost impossible to get in natural rough. So this is a nice alternative, and a lot cheaper.

About any design works great but a brilliant is ideal, I like checker boards and shallow barions.

This material is made with the Czochralski method.

Note: This material has been sawed for shapes, which takes extra time, wear on a saw blade and saw waste. So the work has been done and the yields are all good on these pieces.
