Top Red/Purple Spinels - $800/carat

This material is some of the all time best that I have ever managed to get rough.

As most people are aware red/purple Spinels, especially in larger sizes are almost impossible to get rough and are actually quite difficult to even buy already cut.

Anything cut over a carat is considered premium. This rough is clean and well shaped. It will cut a hot purple/red to orange/red depending on the piece of rough.

This is faceting material that very few people ever even see, none the less get a chance to cut.

I would cut these in deep brilliant cuts to make the most of the color and of course the best yield.

Spinel is the kissing cousin of Sapphire, and like Sapphires pink and reds are very difficult to get. These colors are in as high a demand in Spinels as theya re in Sapphires. Frankly I prefer the Spineld because there is no treatments of any type done on Spinels (yet).
