Spessartite Garnet - $15 to $75/carat

These stones are clean and top color orange with very slight red/orange highlights.

They are light/medium saturation to medium saturation.

This is not the bright navel orange but the rich Manderin orange that is classic color for Spessertite.

To me this color is the classic Spessertiete color, a rich orange with a very slight red tinge like the skin of a Manderin orange.

This color is pretty unique and about the closest I have ever see, but slightly different is the Padaparadschah color Sapphires that are so sought after.

This material is very difficult to get clean, and these stones are clean with the exception of an occasional bubble/crystal (which is noted on the individual stone description). The shapes are all very good and will yield very well, I have cleaned and shaped some of thse pieces..

These stones are exceptional and not generally available rough. Cut this like you would most other Garnet. I think this material works well for brilliant cuts in the 1 to 4 carat size range. For the large stones I would consider a checker board, particularly a diamond top design.

These stones are from a new find, the material is not usually very clean, but these stones are... The color is a very pretty deep orange with a slight red highlight, depending on the light. This is not the really bright orange that you may have seen, but then the price is not either... Cut this like you would most other garnet...
