Chrysoberyl is a stone that is mined very sporadically and it's popularity seems to be more wide spread than ever. Good material will cut almost clear to a nice yellow to golden/honey colored stone with some green highlights. Chrysoberyl is a good substitute for Sapphire, it is as hard and has a higher refractive index.

Chrysoberyl is not usually very large or clean, 4-6 carat rough stones are good sizes for this material. The shapes are often (usually) odd and low yields, and most dealers do not bother to clean Chrysoberyl because it is labor intensive.

These pieces are all good hand selected shapes with good yields, many of the pieces have been windowed to check for clarity if needed. You will get what you pay for... I like Chrysoberyl in a Barion, if the rough is deep enough, otherwise a brilliant design with a deeper depth is a good choice.
