Nigerian Aquamarine - $10 to $50/carat

I cut a lot of this material myself when I can get it. This material is about as good as there is in color and quality coming out of Nigeria.

The colors range from nice blue, blue/green to yellow green. Saturation varies a little but it is all light to medium and medium/dark in color, to Top natural Aquamarine. Because this material is unheated, the colors tend to be what I would call a true Aquamarine color. The colors also tend to be softer, not as harsh as heated Aquamarines tend to be.

This material is "natural unburned - not heated" as far as I know and can tell. There are no guarantee's, but I was told it is natural and it looks it to me.

Nigerian Aquamarine - $6 to $30/carat

This material is difficult to get because the commercial cutting market buys a lot of this rough (they generally buy all they can) and cut it for the commercial gem stone market.

I cut a lot of this material myself when I can get it. This material is about as good as there is in color and quality coming out of Nigeria.

I would call is all good middle quality blue to blue/green Aquamarine. Once and a while a very saturated stone comes out, but most of this material is just a nice medium color. It is not ligh and it is not dark... just a soft blue/green.

The colors range from nice blue, blue/green to yellow green. Saturation varies a little but it is all light to medium and medium/dark in color.

Because this material is unheated, the colors tend to be what I would call a true aquamarine color. The colors are generally more blue/green to green/blue and are softer in appearance then heated material looks.

About any design will work well, but like most Beryl this rough will benefit from a deep design or a Barion type of cut. It cuts easily with no real problems and makes a nice finished stone.
