Mozambique Aquamarine - $16 to $100/carat
Locality: Mozambique, Africa
This material is very difficult to get because the big boys in the commercial cutting market will pay a lot for this rough and generally buy all they can, and cut it for the high end gem stone market.

I cut a lot of this material myself when I can get it. This material is about as good as there is in color and quality.

The colors range from top blue, blue/green to yellow green. Saturation varies a little but it is all medium to dark in color, for Beryl.

As you can see there are a couple pieces in the picture that are not really Aquamarine, they are Helidore actually. I left them in here because they came in this parcel and they are natural (which is really hard to find). I was told this material was natural unheated and as far as I can tell it is. There is no way to be 100% certain though. About any design will work well, but like most Beryl this rough will benifit from a deep design or a Barion type of cut.
