Shown left is a 10.5mm x 7 mm deep - 3.64 carat "Signature #4" cut from peice of Zambian Aquamarine Beryl.

Aquamarine is the birth stone for the month of March.

At it's best, the color is a rich blue with sea green highlights. Aquamarine is often heated to turn it all blue and eliminate the green (green in the rough is often a good sign that there has been no heating). For anybody that has cut Zambian material, it soon becomes a favorite. The color ranges from a yellow/green/blue to blue/green to a quality blue. This material is best when cut in a Barion, or other designs that have deeper bodies and proportional crowns. Be careful not to cut (most Beryl's) in a brilliant design with a shallow crown, it tends to over power the color.
