Apatite - $3 to $8/carat

Apatite comes in many colors, as you can see this material is a hot yellow/green, almost a chartreuse color in some cases. It cuts fairly easy and I recommend that you start with a fine lap (600), polishing can be problematic because of the lower hardness (5 Moh's) of the material. However Apatite usually polishes well on an Ultralap or a wax lap with out too many problems. Apatite works well in most brilliants and step cuts, Barions in general are a good idea.

Note: This material is all hand cleaned and many of the pieces are pre-formed. Apatite tends to have some fractures and spots, that is why it has been hand cleaned. I recommend cold dopping this material.
