Padpar

Padparadschah (Sapphire)
Date -
Pricing as of April 2008

Color: pink/orange to orange/pink

Note: Because of beryllium treatments many to most of the stones in this color are suspect and must be tested. Unless you can see positive proof of the material not being heated/treated.

Note2: This is a collector stone in natural material and, if heated it must be tested for the beryllium treatments, which significantly lower the value of the stone if present.

Note3: This color is probably one of the most incorrectly named and sold types on the market. I have seen shysters on TV and about every where else calling anything from pink Sapphires to lavender Sapphires Padparadschah color. If the stone is not a light/medium to medium orange/pink to pink/orange it is not a Padparadschah.

Light/Medium (30% tone to 45%) - Light/medium.
Comments - This material is valuable and not easy to acquire in larger sizes clean. I cut this material in the medium to large size ranges and typically use unique designs
Pricing - This is strictly a collector stone and pricing is what ever the market will bring.

Medium (45% tone to 65%) - Medium.
Comments - This lateral I usually find a little dark depending on the color, so care in design and orientation is important. I cut this material in the smaller to large size ranges and typically use unique designs
Pricing - This is strictly a collector stone and pricing is what ever the market will bring.

Special - As we all know as cutters some times a stone just comes out "special" for what ever reason. On these kinds of stones I basically price how ever I feel like. Because this stone comes under the "special" category I often do not care if I sell the stone or not. So I usually price it high enough that if I do sell it, I get a very good price. Enough to make me say "Oh well..." and sell it. So be aware that some times I just price a stone high because I do not care if I sell it. Ironically these stones usually sell the fastest...
