99.9% Pure Cerium Oxide Polish
I use 99.9% pure and do not recommend the 90% pure cerium (sometimes referred to as optical cerium). There is not a lot of money difference between 99.95 pure and 90% cerium but there is a big difference in the polish you will get. The 99.9% pure cerium is the best by far.

Be Careful: You do not want the lower quality light red/pink cerium oxide (or the lower quality optical grade). Both of these grades are for cabbing and will often leave scratches on faceted stones.

.3 micron Aluminia Oxide Polish
This is what I use on a tin lap for Garnets and Tourmaline and it is a very high grade quality polish.

Be Careful: You do not want the blue or other colors of aluminium oxide, it's lower quality (not as fine particale size, and not made for faceting). Note: The guys selling it do not list the mesh size, the blue Alumminum Oxide is a cabbing grade polish and not made for faceting.

I got another deal on a barrel of this polish from our local college. Their optics department buys it in huge quanitity (to make telescopes) and sometimes when their project is done at the end of the year, they make me a deal on this very high quality polish. I will hold this sale price as long as the barrel holds out...
