Polish Accessories
How are grit/mesh/micron related and what is what?
Yellow Diamond Polish Cloth
There are nicce for cleaning stones and are made for cleaning diamonds. They work well and are lint free...Yellow Diamond Polish Cloth .............. $4.50
99.9% Pure Cerium Oxide (Spectra Ultralaps)
There are quite a few types of Ultralaps, but I prefer the 99.9% Pure Cerium Oxide, formerly called Spectra Ultralaps. The 99.9% Cerium Oxide is much better than the other types. Why have all of the money invested in all of the other kinds of Ultralaps if one type 99.9% pure cerium (Spectra) is all you will need.
Jeff's Notes: I charge 99.9% pure cerium Ultralaps with aluminia oxide for Tourmaline and charge them with cerium oxide for Quartz/Beryl. Use a seperate Spectra ultralap for each type of polish, do not mix them.
How do I use a Spectra (99.9% Cerium Ultralap) Lap?
I use them to polish all of my Quartz and Beryl stones. I use a 1200 Nu Bond for a pre-polish, then the facets just pop in with a couple of swipes on a Spectra lap.
There are five (5) in a package
8" Spectra Ultralaps .............. $11.50 (Polish is on the dull side)
6 " Spectra Ultralaps ..............$10.95* Now manufactured with a pink or blue base plastic, but they are the same.
Note: The manufacturer is not going to use the name "Spectra" anymore. They are going to call them 99.9% pure cerium oxide and the laps will be labeled that way. They are exactly the same Ultralap, no changes, except for the name. The manufacturer said they got tired of people asking what a "Spectra" was. So they decided to change the name. The Ultralap they previously called "cerium ultralaps" now will be called 40% cerium oxide ultralaps, which is what they are. So there will be both a 99.9 % (formerly Spectra) and 40% cerium Ultralaps in the future.
CrystalCut
This is a lubricant that needs to be mixed with your coolant water in a diamond saw, especially if you are going to be doing very much cutting/sawing.Note: If you live in a very humid climate, where steel tends to rust then it is a good idea to use it on your steel laps too.
This will help extend the life of your saw blade and also help prevent it from rusting.
1 pound (makes 16 gallons) - Price $9.95
