Note: I try to stock these laps, but due to supply problems I am often out. They typically are running 6-12 weeks minimium (often longer) on about any thing I order from them.
Crystalite 8" Solid Steel Laps
What is my opinion on laps? What do I use?
60 Diamond......(extra, extra coarse) - $269.00 - Sale $215.20
100 Diamond......(extra coarse) - $214.00 - Sale $171.20
260 Diamond..................(coarse) - $126.00 - Sale $100.80
360 Diamond.....(medium coarse) - Not Stocked (This lap I do not recommend, the 260 grit lap when worn in cuts basically like a 360 gtrit)
600 Diamond................(medium) - $110.00 - Sale $88.00
1200 Diamond.....................(fine) - $115.00 - Sale $92.00
3,000 Diamond............(extra fine) - $144.00 - Sale $115.20Solid steel laps are by far the flattest you can buy. These laps are more money to start with than some of the topper/thin plate type of laps, but they are just a lot better over all to facet with.
Note: The 360 grit lap when it wears a little basically cuts like and 600 grit lap and I think ity is better to buy a 260 grit lap for coarse work and a 600 grit for the finer cutting. The 3000 laps is tender and will not take abuse, so it is not good for anyone that is heavy handed.
Crystalite 6" Solid Steel Laps
100x Diamond......(extra coarse) - $147.00 - Sale $117.60
260 Diamond..................(coarse) - $117.00 - Sale $91.20
600 Diamond................(medium) - $92.00 - Sale $73.60
1200 Diamond.....................(fine) - $101.00 - Sale $80.80Solid steel laps are by far the flattest you can buy. These laps are more money to start with than some of the thin throw away type of laps (like toppers), but they are just a lot better over all to facet with.
Jeff's Notes: Flatness counts most in the fine grits like 1200 and 600, so if you are trying to save money buy a cheaper coarse grit lap and spend your money on a quality fine lap.
