8" Polish Laps
Note: I try to stock these laps, but due to supply problems I am often out. Crystallite is doing a terrible job on inventory and never shipping anything on time. They typically are running 6-12 weeks minimium (often longer) on about any thing I order from them.
What is my opinion on laps? What do I use?

6" Polish Laps
Crystalite
Tin Lap............. $175.00 - Sale $140.00
Phenolic Lap..... $54.00 - Sale $43.20
Master Lap....... $24.60 - Sale $19.68These are the two basic polish laps I recommend. If you want some other type of 6" lap I can order it...
Jeff's Notes: I have recommended the laps I use. Of course other people may have differing opinions on what polish laps they prefer. My advise is to start with the basics I have recommended, these laps work for me and they will work for you. As you get more experience and/or cut different materials you can always add polish laps.I use a Tin lap scored for Garnets and Tourmaline and would not do without it given a choice.
(Do I really need to score polishing laps and if so how?)I use Tin (Zinc laps are no longer available) with 8,000 and 50,000 diamond for most of my Sapphire Spinel, and Chrysoberyl. I only have mixed luck with a ceramic lap and do not use copper for much.
I polish Quarts and Beryl with a Spectra UltraLap on a Crystalite Master Lap.
Note: I find that Spectra Ultralaps work the best and do not bother with the alumina and cerium oxide Ultralaps.
How do I use a Spectra (Ultralap) Lap?
