Spectroscope
This is a convenient hand held model, it is shorter than the one above.

This one is easier to use. It has an adjustable focus, just push/pull the eye piece, and a variable light slit apature.

The variable apature is really nice and makes it easier to see very faint bars in some rough by reducing the light. Of course the oppsite is true too, more light for darker materials.
