OMNI E 8" Faceting Machine Dial IndicatorNEW - OMNIe Dial Indicator

Brand new as of March 2008 the OMNIe is now available with a German made dial indicator.

This dial indicator helps control cutting depth and actually is a good idea for most beginning cutters because it will help people that are just learning cut to even levels on all sides of their stone.

Note: For those of you who know me I am not generally a big fan of dials and gauges. But because we are having so many beginners that have never cut on a faceting machine before... and some newbies are having difficulties cutting evenly, I have concluded that a dial indicator is a good item to have any any new cutters machine. So I do now recommend a dial indicator if the cost is not a big factor for a new person in the faceting hobby.

This upgrade is available on all new OMNIe's.

This dial indicator upgrade is also available as an easy to install kit for anybody that already has an OMNIe and want to put the dial indicator on their machine.

The 6" OMNI is probably one of the smallest, if not the smallest faceting machines in over all size and foot print I have ever seen. The machine is very compact and for people that have limited work space the 6" OMNI would be an excellent choice. Because the OMNI is so compact, and fairly light (it is heavily built but not a large machine) it would make a good traveling machine for an RV or vacation home.

Here is some customer feed back on the OMNI

Jeff... Spoke to Charlie last night about this machine.. it is fantastic!

I told him this: "If the U.S. Military were in the business of cutting gems, THIS is the machine they would be using" It's tough, stable, smooth and very, very durably built. All in all, at first glance and after playing with the bits of it for awhile, I can honestly say this is high quality merchandise, well machined, well built, well designed and well executed. I have some knowledge of this, as my father was a machinist for 40+ years and he taught me a lot of what he knew.

Jeff & Charles, Just a short note to let you know about the 8” OMNI-E.

I got it home and took it out of the box about an hour ago. Where as I have not had the opportunity to facet a stone yet my first impressions are that I have spent my money well. I do not believe I will suffer from any buyer’s remorse whatsoever.

First impressions upon seeing the machine were pleasing to say the least. It looks a million bucks! Blue just happening to be my favorite color was simply a bonus. The packaging was superb with everything arriving apparently how it was packed. All parts which could have wanted to wander were retained with rubber bands with the entire unit and accessories wrapped in enough shrink wrap plastic and bubble wrap to suffocate Moby Dick! DHL was brilliant. USA to me in Australia was a mere three working days and the packaging showed no signs of rough handling or neglect. At all contacts DHL staff were very courteous, helpful and professional. A big thumbs up to DHL! The manual was straight forward and I found the instructions on how to calibrate the machine on power-up to be clear, concise and not easy to misinterpret or go wrong. If a busted-ass, technologically challenged old bushie like me can follow them without trouble, then anyone can. (For the American conversion on our slang “Busted-ass”, meaning that I probably spent more time on a horse charging through the bush chasing wild cattle when younger, than was good for my health!). The machine is very smooth and quiet and the improvements over the original versions on which the OMNI are base, are noticeable. Namely the belt guard, the non free falling head on the post (vertical adjustment sleeve) and the cast splash bowl just to list the obvious. With all the features on this little beauty it’s surprising and pleasing just how little space she commandeers on the faceting table. Plenty of room left over for a bar fridge on the table as well, stocked with nature’s finest water; mixed with just the right amount of hops, sugar and yeast of course! But let’s not let the broom-pilot (wife) in on that little secret!
