Guiu Girdle Alignment Tool
This is a tool that most faceters should have. I use it and find it saves a lot of time and aggravation when lining up the crown of a stone to be cut after transfer. This tool lines up and holds your transferred stone by a girdle facet, so that you can align the crown to be cut.
Basically pick an indexing facet (I usually use the first girdle facet in the cutting sequence) and clamp the girdle to the index facet using the screws to clamp it down snug. Not hard.
Once you have done the clamping, insert the dop into the faceting quill (and key if the machine has one). Now set the correct index number. Lower the dop/stone/tool to set on the polish lap with the angle set at 90 degrees. As in the picture above you will see there is some spiral... Adjust the cheater until the flats of the alignment tool are flat and square to the polishing lap. Remove the tool/clamps and cut your tier.
Note: I find this tool works very well for me and eliminated a fair amount of adjusting. However I will note that I do usually have to make a very minor cheater adjustment to get every thing lined up dead on.
