The 6" or the 8" unit is great for some one who wants to do basic cabbing and is an ideal hobby unit. Either the 6" or the 8" Universal unit is a very nice addition for any faceter because the Universal cabbing machine(s) use the same flat laps that faceting machines use. So if you are looking for a simple cabbing unit that can use the faceting laps you already own. The Universal is a good choice.

Also because the Universal cabbing machine uses flat plate types of laps it is a very good choice for cuting inlay and intarsia work as well as glass or any type of work that needs a flat cutting surface.
