Danburite White Astrism

White Asterism - Cutting Remarks

Shown at left is a 8mm x 7mm deep ~ 2.84 carat White Asterism cut from Clear Mexican Danburite
by Jeff Graham.

I recently came into a large parcel of Danburite crystals, although this material is well known in mineral collecting circles, it is not commonly seen in faceted stones. I wanted to create a design that would take advantage of the diamond like clarity and appearance of the material. Because of it’s clarity, it does not need to be cut in a especially bright design, it is already bright. Notice the depth of this stone, it has a lot of dispersion and nice patterns... Cut in a larger size, 1 carat plus. This also works well in light colored Topaz, Tourmaline, and man-made materials.

Enjoy cutting your "White Asterism"... Drop me an email to let me know your results and what you've cut, or feel free to inquire if you have any questions or need some help regarding this design.
