Tzar - Cutting Remarks
Shown at left is a 9.4mm x 7.5mm deep ~ 3.28 carat Tzar (early version) cut from very pale Aquamarine by Jeff Graham.
If you like my “White Asterism” you will like this one... This cuts a very interesting and different stone. It works best in a large stone, I would cut it at least 8mm and prefer it in 10mm and larger...
This is designed for light colored materials, like Danburite and light pink Tourmaline. It will work well in light blue Topaz and Peridot as well as man-made materials.
As you can see in the ray trace it is brighter than the numbers indicate. But this design is deep and will help to improve lightly saturated material, which is what I designed it for. The reflections in this stone are really nice and create a lot of life, particularly in ligh to medium/light colored materials.
Note: On a smaller stone the table can be left off and it gives the stone a very pretty look. On larger stones I generally cut the table.
Enjoy cutting your "Tzar"... Drop me an email to let me know your results and what you've cut, or feel free to inquire if you have any questions or need some help regarding this design.
