Matched set of "Tic Tac's" cut in Garnet

Tic Tac - Cutting Remarks

Shown at left is a matched set of "Tic Tac's" 7.5x 5.6mm deep ~ 4.98 carats cut from dark Pyrope Garnet by Jeff Graham.

I wanted an earring design that would be fast to cut and a little different.

Note: That I have large distinctive facets on the crown, the “X” of the Tic-Tac.

I did this because as the stone you are cutting gets darker , the more the reflection from the surface of the facet(s) tends to be seen. I wanted an interesting design to show on the crown. This is very simple, but do not let that fool you, there is a lot of sparkle in the finished stone(s). I designed this for some dark blood-red Garnet that has been coming out of Africa lately. This is an ideal earring design, in 6-8mm. On a very small stone the P5 tier can be skipped.

Enjoy cutting your "Tic Tac"... Drop me an email to let me know your results and what you've cut, or feel free to inquire if you have any questions or need some help regarding this design.
