Judging the 12 Best designs of the year.
Columbia -Willamette Faceters' Guild

The system goes like this... editors start out with the best l00 designs that have been published the previous year. This is not a contest nor can an individual get into the list just as a request. After the best l00 are chosen then they send them out to a panel of judges.

None of the judges are from the Columbia Willamette Guild. These are all private individual judges and they change from time to time and year to year. Usually there are 3 or 4 judges . They pick the l2 best and the guild usually cuts each of the stones ahead of time to see if indeed they do work and are cuttable.

They display the cut stones from last year at the B.C. symposium. Some of stones are cut in natural material and they are sold in their annual auction. Since they sell only natural material stones, the rest are used for silent auctions and given away as door prizes so none ever go to waste.
