Addition #9 - Mirage Money Cuts
Mirage designs are basically a new concept of mine that has never been done before.
Websters dictionary defines Mirage - An optical phenomenon by which the image of an object appears above, below, or to the side of it's true position as a result of spatial variations of the index of refraction.
In other words you will see very interesting reflections and what appears to be facets in the finished gem stones that are illusions, they do not exist and are not actually facets. These designs are made to be fun, and fast to cut.
These designs generally have a very low number of facets and are simple in appearance. However, appearances can be deceiving. ALWAYS look closely at the Ray Traces of these designs to see what they will truly look like when faceted. The finished stones look much brighter and more complicated than the design diagrams appear. That is what "Mirage Cuts" are all about.
